I am a multi-skilled IT professional with over 2 decades of experience that cuts across intelligence, data analysis, programming, project design & management, research, and strategy. I have proven capacity at management level, to successfully deliver ICT projects and programs for private and public sector organizations. I am currently in charge of coordinating efforts to build the ICT, innovation, & entrepreneurship ecosystem in Nigeria by developing programs, partnerships, frameworks and government policies that will yield an enabling environment for ICT ecosystem to thrive. I hold a PhD in Artificial Intelligence, Computer science and a Master’s degree in Information Engineering with Network Management, both from Robert Gordon University, Aberdeen, UK.
Dr Amina Sambo-Magaji is the National Coordinator, Office for ICT Innovation and Entrepreneurship (OIIE). In this role, she is responsible for coordinating the activities of the Technology Innovation and Entrepreneurship ecosystems through driving policy recommendations, initiatives and programs that will create a thriving and sustainable ecosystem. Under her stewardship at OIIE, NITDA has restructured the office to serve as an agile facilator in the tech innovation and entrepreneurship ecosystem.
Prior to her joining NITDA, she started her career as a lecturer and later moved to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) where she spent over 14 years. As a pioneer staff, she had the opportunity to be part of the team that setup the entire IT infrastructure of the Commission through a 4 years project with the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC). There, she worked as a software development lead, IT project manager, network administrator and mail administrator. She also represented the commission at some public institution boards.
Dr Sambo-Magaji has an all distinction academic record. She holds a first class degree in Computer Science from Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Bauchi (ATBU) and a Masters with Distinction in Information Engineering with Network Management from Robert Gordon University (RGU), Aberdeen. Her PhD, also from RGU, is in the field of Artificial Intelligence specifically on developing algorithms for optimizing distributed problems and data analytics. Her research work has been published in reputable national and international platforms with several outstanding awards.
Dr Sambo- Magaji is an active member of the Nigerian Computer Society (NCS) and British Computer Society (BCS). She is also an advocate for entrepreneurship, female and youth empowerment. She has represented Nigeria in several high level meetings in Artificial Intelligence, technology and innovation policy and women empowerment in Amsterdam, Portugal, Dubai, USA, Senegal, Kigali and so on. She is from Kaduna State and married with children.
